PALM BAY INTERNATIONAL Velante Pinot Grigio 2025 BACKGROUND It is rare that a simple vision has the power to span centuries. For Giovan Battista and Gaetano Bertani, founded in 1857, they wagered that painstaking quality would be the future of Valpolicella wines — and they were right. From their earliest days, the Bertani brothers stood out for their drive and innovation. Their Soave was served at the coronation of King George VI in 1937, and they pioneered Amarone della Valpolicella in the 1950s — before it was recognized as a DOC in 1968 or granted DOCG status in 2010. Today, 'Bertani' and 'Amarone' are nearly synonymous. Bertani produces wine from two celebrated estates: their original property in Grezzana (Valpolicella Valpantena) and the prestigious Tenuta Novare (acquired 1957) in Valpolicella Classica — featuring marine gravel, limestone, clay, and rare volcanic basalt soils. Velante Pinot Grigio is sourced from Bertani's vineyards in Venezia Giulia — alluvial soils with a gravel sub-layer covered by reddish, iron-rich clay. A Pinot Grigio of notable density and balance: golden apple, pear, and peach on the nose, with a crisp palate and fine balance between acidity and plushness. A natural companion for the Italian table. TERROIR & VINTAGE NOTES Velante Pinot Grigio is sourced from Venezia Giulia, encompassing the provinces of Gorizia, Pordenone, Trieste, and Udine. The alluvial soils feature a gravel sub-layer covered by reddish clay rich in iron oxide, adding mineral complexity. Vines are bilateral Guyot-trained and average 10 to 15 years in age. WINEMAKING & AGING Grapes are fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks at 58–60°F, preserving the delicate aromatics and natural freshness of Pinot Grigio. No oak is used at any stage. The wine rests in stainless steel tanks for approximately four months before bottling. TASTING NOTES Aromas of golden apple, ripe pear, and peach. Good density on the palate with a fine balance between crisp acidity and plushness, and a clean, refreshing finish.
