<!-- image --> ## Cañeten 2022 ## B A C K G R O U N D Los Vascos wines blend Late tradition with the unique terroir of Chile to create elegant wines that bring exceptional to the everyday. The vision of Domaines Barons de Rothschild Late to expand their estate took them to South America in 1988, becoming the rst French viticultural investment in modern Chile, oriented towards the production of ne wine using and adapting the viticultural experiences of Bordeaux. Los Vascos is located in Valley de Caneten (Colchagua), a closed valley in the central zone of Chile, approximately 25 miles from the sea. The valley provides a perfect microclimate for high-quality viticulture, with Northern exposure to lands. Daily on-shore winds provide temperature changes between 68-77°F, for optimum maturation of the grapes. With 1,581 acres planted on the over 10,000-acre estate, it is one of the largest vineyards in the central Colchagua Valley, at the foot of Mount Cañeten. ## T E R R O I R &amp; V I N T A G E N O T E S The grapes come from intra-plot selections across 8 parcels in La Aguina, the coolest, windiest, and most fog-inuenced vineyard of the Cañeten Valley. Located on complex hillside terrain, variations in slope, orientation, moisture, and soil depth create a mosaic of microterroirs ideal for Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc.The 2022 harvest was marked by a cool and stable climate, without extremes or adverse weather events. A dry, cold winter ensured uniform bud break, while a cool, frost-free spring promoted healthy plant development. The mild summer allowed for gradual ripening, leading to excellent sugar accumulation and optimal aromatic expression. Harvesting took place progressively, allowing each plot to be picked at its ideal point of ripeness. An exceptional vintage, dened by balance, freshness, and remarkable ageing potential. ## WINE M A KI N G &amp; A G I N G The clusters are hand-harvested and 100% destemmed near the fermentation tanks using a mobile reception line, ensuring maximum typicity and quality. Micro-parcels ferment separately in concrete or stainless-steel tanks, depending on the grape variety. Extraction is gentle, with light pump-overs and post-fermentation. Aged 16 months: 60% in 4,000L foudres, 14% in barrels, and 26% in concrete tanks. Only the most balanced components are included in the nal blend, after rigorous tasting sessions. ## TA S T I N G N O T E S A complex nose with vibrant notes of forest fruits like blackberry and raspberry, followed by a subtler second layer of red currants, delicate violet and hibiscus owers with notes of canelo pepper and cedar. A remarkably balanced wine, with a smooth entry leading to precise acidity that brings tension and energy.
