<!-- image --> <!-- image --> ## Bourgogne Les Croix Blanches 2021 ## B A C K G R O U N D With 18 wonderfully diverse appellations across the region, 12 of which are Premier and Grand crus, Bertagna is among the top ranking Domaines in Burgundy. A desire for perfection and emphasis on quality, coupled with signicant investments in technology and vineyard management, result in some of the region's most compelling wines. Domaine Bertagna is perhaps best known for its elegant, silky red wines, but it also produces one of the world's rarest white wines - Vougeot 1er Cru Blanc 'Les Cras' from the Côtes de Nuits. Bertagna comprises 20 hectares, most of which are planted to Pinot Noir; the remaining area is planted to Chardonnay and split between Vougeot 1er Cru Les Cras, Vougeot Le Village and a parcel of Corton-Charlemagne. Their wines include ve Grands Crus, seven Premiers Crus, and three Village wines, stretching from Chambertin to Corton. The historic Domaine Bertagna once belonged to the Cistercian monks, famous for founding the Clos de Vougeot in the 13th century. The estate's cellars and vineyards are located in the heart of the village nearby the Château and its ancient Chapter House. ## T E R R O I R & V I N T A G E N O T E S This vineyard is located in the Nuits-Saint-Georges township; the 1.8h plot thrives in clay limestone soil. Vine density: 10,000 stocks/ha; Guyot pruning style. ## WINE M A KI N G & A G I N G After strict pruning and a mid-season green harvest to control yields, the grapes are hand-picked in small 20 kg cases and then hand-sorted at the vineyard and the winery to ensure only the nest grapes are selected. The grapes (with stalks) are pressed slowly and gently, followed by a cold maceration for 48 hours. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in oak barrels and stainless steel tanks. 40% of the wine is aged for 10 to 12 months in oak barrels, the remainder in stainless steel. ## TA S T I N G N O T E S Soft and fruity, with aromas of fresh and dried fruit. Long, juicy nish. <!-- image --> <!-- image --> <!-- image --> <!-- image --> ## ORIGIN Bourgogne AOC, Burgundy, France GRA P E VA R I E T I E S 100% Chardonnay S I Z E S 750ml T E C H N I C A L D E T A I L S ABV: 14.5%, Closure: Cork WINE M A KE R Eva Reh <!-- image -->
