A winding dirt road and low stone walls lead through the patchwork of fields while billowing cumulus clouds cast shifting shadows over the green, rolling hills in the distance, creating a timeless, pastoral scene. preencoded.png](Image1.jpg) ![A sunlit, late‑summer moment: a smiling older man in sunglasses and a younger woman sit close together on a dry, grassy hillside, his arm draped around her shoulders in a warm, relaxed embrace. They wear navy polos and jeans, sneakers scuffed from work, and the woman holds pruning shears while a straw hat and a red bucket lie on the ground beside them—small signs of a shared break from outdoor labor. The golden, slightly overgrown meadow and distant tree‑lined ridge provide a quiet, rustic backdrop to their easy, contented camaraderie. preencoded.png](Image2.jpg) ![Sunlit stone and iron: a hand-opened gate leads past clipped boxwoods to the crenellated tower and weathered walls of an ancient Tuscan estate. Inside, a steady hand pours a thread of deep ruby wine into the head of an oak cask — a quiet moment of tasting, monitoring and slow cellar work. Outside the rows, meadow flowers and cover crops bloom between the vines, a riot of purple and green that speaks to careful stewardship of the land. Castello di Verrazzano — Viticoltori dal 1150. The inset text reads “Castello di Verrazzano 20 maggio 2023 — Giornata Mondiale delle API” (20 May 2023 — World Bee Day). Right: a close-up of a tasting table — a tulip wine glass filled with ruby-red Verrazzano wine, the bottle at the edge, surrounded by plates of crostini, finely chopped shallot, a red tartare and other antipasti. The diptych captures terroir from hive to table: the busy beehives that sustain the landscape and the rustic, savory flavours paired with a glass of local wine. preencoded.png](Image4.jpg) ![A pair of hands holds a wooden hive frame upright while a metal uncapping knife (or fork) scrapes away the white wax cappings, exposing the glistening, amber honey sealed in the hexagonal cells beneath. Wax shavings and bits of comb fall onto the stainless-steel uncapping tray below, ready to be filtered out before the frames go into an extractor. The close-up shows the rich texture of the capped comb, the neat rows of filled cells, and the immediate, tactile work of harvesting honey by hand. preencoded.png](Image5.jpg) THE ESTATE THE CAPPELLINI FAMILY The Essence of Castello di Verrazzano Key Facts Fun Facts Stewards of traditional Chianti Classico, Castello di Verrazzano has played an indelible role in Tuscan winemaking and American history. Incredible terroir: cool climate, limestone-based soils, surrounded by protective woodlands. Castello di Verrazzano receives 40,000 visitors a year . Situated in UGA Montefioralle, soon to be noted on their top wine, Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Sassello. After Antinori, Verrazzano is the 2nd most visited winery in Tuscany . Since acquiring the estate in 1958, the Cappellini's have replanted the 52 hectares surrounding the Verrazzano estate. These are the same vineyards that have existed for over 1,000 years — the boundaries have not changed. Traditional producers of Chianti Classico, preferring neutral oak aging. Luigi (Sr.) and Clara Cappellini were among the first to establish public tours at the winery. Mr. Cappellini was awarded the Cavalieri di Livora (order of merit) — one of the highest Italian honors — for his role in building the region's tourism and hospitality sector. While overseeing organic conversion of the vineyards, the Cappellini's have built an agrotourism arm of the estate, including vegetable farms, beekeeping, and restaurants. "Made with Organic Grapes" stated on all back labels. Sustainable farming & winemaking: zero mowing or weeding — soils are so fertile no human intervention is needed. The winery is powered by certified renewable sources and heated with wood from the property's own forest. Beloved locally — 70% of Verrazzano wine is consumed in Tuscany . A true gem in our portfolio — PBI & Verrazzano are long-term partners, working together for 47 years. ### Notes: <!-- Slide number: 3 --> ![Elegant monochrome logo depicting a finely detailed line-drawing of a hilltop castle overlooking meticulously lined vineyard rows, set above the name “CASTELLO DI VERRAZZANO” in a classic serif typeface; the smaller legend “GREVE IN CHIANTI” appears beneath. They grow their vegetables organically, keep bees and produce extra virgin olive oil from their own olive groves, which they serve in their restaurants at the estate and in Florence. Even the boars bred at the estate roam the property “semi-libertà” The winery is powered using energy from certificated renewable sources and heated with wood coming from the forest of the property. The woodland is an important element – it acts as a cocoon for the vines, offering pollution protection and maintains freshness. CERTIFICATIONS Q CERTIFICAZIONI Srl – IT BIO Certified Organic (since 2014 vintage) THE CAPPELLINI PHILOSOPHY: WHY THIS LAND? When the land was first cultivated in the 1100s, it was a thriving, biodiverse region. The fertility of the soil was what enticed the Etruscans, Romans and all future occupiers. The Cappellini’s aim is to go back to that period when the land was as natural as it could be. For the past 5 years, the Cappellini’s have further minimized activity in the vineyards Produce their own compost Zero mowing or weeding; vineyards are covered in tall grasses Soils are incredibly fertile - no human intervention is needed Yeast: Given the rich biodiversity of the estate, much native yeast naturally settles on the grapes. While the winery does inoculate, their sustainable, regenerative efforts are increasing the amount of ambient yeast on the grapes, affecting the flavor and add richness of the wines. ![A refined black-and-white logo showing a hand-drawn hilltop estate with a fortified tower, cypress trees and farm buildings above neat, radiating rows of vineyards.
